many birds, one shape
myriadof.one
Alongside working with people, I make software of my own. It goes out under the name myriad of one. Each product will have a name of its own; myriad of one is the quiet credit underneath.
Software for worlds I know from the inside.
Small, plain tools for the people who run something small. The everyday side of it: the enquiries, the promises, getting paid, the remembering.
How I make things
- Listen first. I build with the people who’ll use it, not for them.
- Small on purpose. If it can be simpler and still work, it is.
- Built around the work. It does the remembering, so you don’t have to.
- An open book. You’ll always know what it keeps about you and your customers.
It’s the same way I work with people.
How I workA winter of listening.
I’m working on a few things at the moment, all at the listening stage. That means talking to people and understanding the problem properly before I build anything I’d ask you to use.
One of them is about the everyday side of running something small. The enquiry that came in on a Friday and got lost. The quote you meant to send. The invoice you’re still chasing. The list you carry round in your head on a Sunday night.
Over the winter I’m talking to ten people who run something small. A business, a practice, a one-person band. Half an hour, online or over a coffee if you’re in Kent. No pitch.
Afterwards I’ll write up what I heard and send it to you. If something useful comes out of it, you’ll be the first to try it.
Not sure where to start? Tell me about the last thing that slipped.
